Taste Fine Wine

Monterey County is renowned for its exceptional wines, influenced by unique microclimates and the bay’s cold waters. Explore charming wineries and scenic trails, or visit tasting rooms on Cannery Row to sip, ask questions, and take home special bottles.

Visit Lovers Point – Walking Distance from The Olympia Lodge

Lovers Point in Pacific Grove offers romantic walks along a stunning beach and park. It’s a popular spot for proposals and photography, with opportunities for kayaking, biking along ocean trails, and enjoying scenic picnics. It’s also one of the few places in California where you can watch the sunrise over the ocean.

January

January

Did you know this about January?

With the holidays behind us, and our New Year’s Resolutions ahead, sometimes it’s nice to just have some lighthearted fun. For example, did you know that, aside from being the first month of the year, January is:

  • Known to be the coldest month in the Northern Hemisphere and the warmest in the Southern Hemisphere. (Yet, at the Olympia Lodge, we generally have fewer than 6 days of rain in January, and temperatures stay comfortably in the 45-65F range, well above freezing.)
  • The flower of the month is the Carnation, the birthstone is the garnet, and Zodiac signs are Capricorn and Aquarius. (Whose birthdays do you have to celebrate this month? Make your reservations now!)
  • In addition to the ever-celebrated New Year’s Day, January holds the revered holiday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the third Monday of January every year. (But everyday is a holiday when you visit The Olympia Lodge. So let’s celebrate!)

January was named for the Roman god Janus, known as the protector of gates and doorways, who symbolize beginnings and endings. Janus is depicted with two faces, one looking into the past, the other with the ability to see into the future. (Here at The Olympia Lodge, we look to the past to applaud every guest who has visited, and to the future, to see you again.)

Silly facts aside, the truth of the matter is my team and I at the Olympia Lodge love it when you come to stay, and we hope to see you again multiple times this 2025!
