Wildflowers are blooming near here–and now is the time to enjoy them. Usually, February is wildflower season here in Monterey Bay. But this year, the April and May flowers are stunning.

Here are a few places near the Olympia Lodge where you can find the delicate–and sometimes bold–splashes of color from our blooming wonders:

  1. Right here in Pacific Grove! See the famed magic pink carpet of flowers as you stroll along our coastline just blocks from The Olympia Lodge.
  2. Garrapata State Park Take an invigorating walk or hike here for breathtaking views of the Pacific, luscious redwood forests, ferns, and calla lilies.
  3. Garland Ranch Regional Park View the Carmel River; Garzas Creek; redwood, bay, madrone, and oak trees; or a waterfall on gentle walks or an elevation-gaining hike.
  4. Point Lobos See rugged natural beauty, rare plant communities, endangered archeological sites, unique geological formations, and spectacular flora and fauna in this stunningly gorgeous coastal park.
  5. Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail Follow the 18-mile bike path, from Pacific Grove to Castroville, for a great way to exercise, see Monterey Bay and avoid traffic.
  6. Marina Dunes Preserve Run up the dunes to burn off steam and see blooming succulents.
  7. Fort Ord National Monument Hike or bike this 14,000-acre park with over 35 rare species of plants and animals.
  8. Pinnacles National Park It’s an hour drive, but worth it for the scenery including beautiful rock formations and caves.
